Adam's Cross

Adam's Cross is located in the wall of the A591 on the left hand side when driving north (towards Keswick) at the northern end of the dual carriageway near Shoulthwaite, near the "lanes merge" sign.

It takes us back some 300 years to a time when there was still religious persecution in England, and it marks the point 5 miles from Crosthwaite church, Keswick, past which an evicted independent minister was forbidden to proceed.
